How to Save Battery Life on the HTC EVO

Now, if you leave your HTC EVO installed so that when you open the box, you will be disappointed with the phone's battery. If you left your phone on a 4G network is enabled, the battery in your EVO would not make it through the day. I learned that the hard way. So it is, here are some simple steps you can take to extend your EVO is the battery life of 50 %.

Tip # 1 - Download Advanced Task Killer app from App Store. If I was going to act must have applications for the EVO, it will be number one. Go to the Market icon on your phone, type in "Advanced Task Killer", for download. It's free. Once you've downloaded it, put it on the home screen. Click on it and you'll see a list of all applications and the task that is running on EVO.Prvi time I did, I was amazed and it will be too. Some of these applications on your EVO will automatically, without rhyme or reason. If you see an application running, you would not have a clue. These applications are bleeding phone batteries dry! Simply check each app you want to kill, and then tap the "Kill the selected application." I checked them all. I will include them, if and when they need them. This baby will save big time on battery life and it's free.

Tip # 2 - Download Battery Status Pro app from the App Store. If I was going to act must have an EVO applications, it will be number two. This is a phenomenal app and it is 100% free. Once again, go to the market on the phone icon, type in "Battery Status Pro" and download. There is a paid and free version. You only need the free version. Put this on the home screen after you download it. Press it and you'll see a complete dissolution of the battery left in your phone. You will be able to second left on your battery in different modes of standby time, talk time, Internet use (with or without Wi-Fi), etc. This application will tell you exactly how much time you have for what you want to do. This is a great way to budget the battery so that it does not waste on something that you do not need.

Tip # 3 - Change the lighting of your home screen. Out of the box, the HTC EVO is great as a summer day, Sun looks great, but you really do not need all that brightness, unless you're in a dark place. Tap the Menu button at the bottom of the EVO and go to Settings - Sounds & Display - Brightness. There you can drag the bar to the left which will darken your phone and save a lot of batteries. You would be surprised at the difference in the EVO's battery life after you make this simple adjustment.

Tip # 4 - Turn off the 4G! Look, I still am not convinced that 4G is be-all and end all that Sprint is that to be. 4G is nice and pay for it, but it will suck the battery dry. You do not need. 3G is just as fast and almost not going to do damage to your battery that 4G will do. I just use the EVO 4G if I turned in somewhere. To turn it off simply tap the menu button at the bottom of the phone, go to Settings - Wireless and Networks - 4G. Simply tap on the 4G and to see him off. The phone will now be connected via 3G. While in the wireless network, click the button next to the Wi-Fi. This will disconnect the EVO from constantly looking for Wi-Fi networks that will drain your battery. If you want to connect to Wi-Fi network, just click it on again.

Tip # 5 - Customise your e-mail. Users can adjust the frequency on which network you search for your e-mail. If you are looking for EVO e-mail every 5 minutes, and requires every few minutes will help drain your battery. Go to the message, tap the Menu button at the bottom-More-Settings-send and receive Set-Download frequency. Here you can configure the network to check for new mail every 50-60 minutes. Depending on your income and how often you should see new e-mail, I would recommend every 30 minutes. Now you can always open your messages in the meantime that will automatically refresh and bring up any new mail. However, this tiny adjustments will help you save quite a bit of battery during the day.

Tip # 6 - Turn off your social mreže.EVO offers tons of great applications for social networking. Myspace, Facebook and Twitter all have their own applications. This makes life much easier if you are involved with social networks such as myself. However, the default setting on most of these applications will only be retained indefinitely, which will give you immediate information over the network. That's all well and good, but that will kill the tiny luxuries battery. Make sure that the applications all together does not automatically update. To be sure, touch your Advanced Task Killer and kill them if you are running.

Tip # 7 - Make sure you turn off the screen. If you're like me, you want to leave your phone open constantly for new messages, notifications, etc. However, it will kill your battery is not always necessary. If you are busy or do not need the phone right away, simply tap the button at the top of the phone. This puts your phone into sleep mode. The phone is still on and you will hear a notification, but you'll save time on your battery life leaving the EVO in the standby mode. In addition, make sure the home screen views at some point in case you forget to do this manually. Go to the Menu button at the bottom, and then click Settings - Sound & Display - The display timeout. Here you have the ability to close your home anywhere from 15 seconds to never. For me, 15 seconds is a little too fast. I like to keep mine set to 2 minutes. I'd probably save a little more battery life by downloading it for a minute, but it was just too fast for me and the way I use my EVO. Either way you have many options here, make sure you use them.

So, there you go. I have passed this advice on a few friends who are now eternally grateful for the extra batteries that were in his EVO. Make this simple adjustment and the difference will be like having two extra batteries connected to your EVO.

Enjoy the EVO and remember ... off to 4G!
